A Peace River man has been sentenced in two separate court cases involving drugs, firearms, and other offences.
Russell William Pasquan received a 329-day jail sentence after pleading guilty to possession for the purpose of trafficking. Four additional charges were withdrawn.
The charges stem from a March 24, 2025 incident, when Peace Regional RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officers initially found a man asleep inside. After he passed a mandatory alcohol screening test, the vehicle was later seen being driven erratically.
Police stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver. A search uncovered a firearm, as well as cocaine and methamphetamine.
Pasquan also received concurrent sentences ranging from 30 to 148 days after pleading guilty to unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, public mischief, and failure to comply with court orders.
In a separate incident on May 7, 2025, Pasquan was arrested alongside Kaitlin Sinclair after an officer recognized a driver who was under a curfew. A sawed-off shotgun was found in the vehicle.
Sinclair later pleaded guilty to taking a motor vehicle without consent and was sentenced to 12 months probation in February 2026.
Alberta Justice says the sentences reflect the seriousness of the offences.
