This week, communities across the region are celebrating Métis Week, a time to honour the rich culture, history, and resilience of the Métis people.
In High Prairie, the Town office is hosting a flag-raising ceremony on Monday at 11:00 am.
In Peace River, the Region 6 Métis Nation Office is hosting a Métis Week Celebration on Wednesday, November 19, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.
Attendees can enjoy chili, bannock, beverages, and Métis music.
Additionally, Northern Lakes College is offering free online educational sessions on Métis history, culture, and traditions on the same day, with sessions from noon to 1:00 PM and 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Details are available at NorthernLakesCollege.ca.
These events provide opportunities for community members to gather, reflect, and strengthen ties, celebrating the achievements and strength of Métis ancestors and citizens.
