In a recent meeting, the Peace River School Division Board of Trustees addressed key issues.

Human Resources Hearing: The Board denied an appeal concerning a teacher transfer, adhering to Board Policy 14. Vice Chair Lacey Buchinski has been tasked with communicating the decision and its rationale to affected individual.

Capital Plan Amendment: An amendment to the 2025-2028 capital plan was approved, prioritizing the construction of a new K-12 school in Fairview. This decision follows community engagement sessions that indicated a preference for a new facility. The Board will continue the Value Scoping process to assess modernization costs of existing buildings, ensuring the most effective investment for Fairview’s students and community. (prsd.ab.ca)

Policy Development and Review: The Board conducted reviews and approved amendments to several policies, including Policy 2: Role of the Board, Policy 3: Role of the Trustee, Policy 7: Board Operations, and Policy 12: Role of the Superintendent. Notably, Policy 12 now mandates the Superintendent’s compliance with all Ministerial Orders and Government mandates on behalf of the Board.

These decisions reflect the Board’s commitment to effective governance and the advancement of educational facilities within the division.
