Trial dates have now been set in connection with a 2024 homicide in northern Alberta.
Christopher Valin of Berwyn will stand trial for murder from May 31 to June 18, 2027, in Peace River Court of King’s Bench. The charge stems from the death of 54-year-old Wilfred Rever of Manning, whose body was discovered by hunters on May 25, 2024, in a remote area near Fairview.
RCMP initially led the investigation after the discovery.
In a related case, Guy Valin of Berwyn faces charges of accessory after the fact and offering an indignity to a body, with his trial also scheduled for May 31, 2027.
Meanwhile, Brooke Burton of Manning is set to be sentenced on similar charges on June 24, 2026.
